Lucija Kroselj Kosec

Immediately after finishing my studies in Latin and French, I started working at the Poljane Gymnasium in Ljubljana, which happened to be my alma mater. It has now been over two decades since I started, and teaching Latin has always provided me with new challenges. I like the autonomy of my work, being able to introduce new methods into my teaching without any obstacles, abandon outdated practices, and show the new generations the relevance, topicality, interest, and usefulness of Latin, as well as Greco-Roman culture, civilization, and literature.
I was very happy to be invited to participate in the Europa Ciceroniana project. I look forward to meeting fellow Latinists from different parts of Europe. Thanks to student exchanges, I have already had some insight into the work of classicists in Italy and Germany in recent years, and this has often led me to introduce important innovations and changes in my teaching. What I see as particularly significant is the basic aim of our group - to write a commentary on Cicero's text and to devote ourselves, viribus unitis, to the same task. The fact that this will allow the participants to learn about the differences in teaching across different countries and cultures is truly invaluable!
