dr. Barbara Zlobec

Barbara Zlobec (Trieste, 1971) graduated in Classical Philology at the University of Trieste and received her MA and PhD at the University of Ljubljana. She teaches at the Gorizia Gymnasium: it is a unique reality, as the school is attended by students from the Slovenian minority in Italy, but at the same time, it is happy to welcome students from nearby Slovenia as well as students of Italian descent who have learned Slovenian. The school is involved in the didactics of classical languages and in the study of Greco-Roman culture on Slovenian soil. She has translated from Latin and Greek (Cicero – On Friendship, Four Speeches against Catiline, For the Poet Archias, Scipio’s Dream; Epicurus – Letter to Menoeceus, Plutarch – Writings on Animal Psychology). She has contributed to the revision of Dokler’s Greek-Slovenian Dictionary and to the translation of Conte’s History of Latin Literature.
