dr. Dragica Fabjan Andritsakos

I am a professor of Ancient and Modern Greek and Latin, a PhD in Linguistics, and a translator from Modern Greek and Latin and Ancient Greek. I work at the Diocesan Classical Gymnasium in Šentvid as a professor of classical languages. In addition to my teaching work, I am involved in didactics of teaching. I live and work in Ljubljana and Athens.
I studied classical philology at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana and then continued my studies in modern Greek literature and language in Ljubljana and the Faculty of Arts in Athens. I studied at the universities of Athens, Thessaloniki and Ioannina. At the University of Thessaloniki, I obtained a C2 certificate in Modern Greek, and the Centre for Greek Language of the University of Thessaloniki awarded me a certificate for teaching Modern Greek. I also have a degree in Creative Writing from the University of Athens.
My translations from Latin, Ancient Greek, and especially Modern Greek have been published on websites and in magazines such as Keria, Literatura, Poetikon, Zvon, and others. Among the most important is the translation of the complete poetic works of Constantine Cavafy. In 2021, I received the international award Lirikonov zlat for translating
contemporary Greek poetry into Slovenian.
